Working Holiday in Austria for Argentinians

Good news for Argentinians: we now have the opportunity to apply for the Austria Working Holiday visa!

Just like other Working Holiday visas, this visa will allow you to stay in the country for 12 months with the opportunity to work and travel.

Requirements

  • Be an Argentine citizen.
  • Hold a valid Argentine ordinary passport with sufficient validity in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Argentine Republic.
  • Be between 18 (eighteen) and 30 (thirty) years of age, inclusive of both ages.
  • Possess a return ticket or demonstrate sufficient financial resources to purchase one.
  • Have sufficient funds to cover living expenses during the initial period of your stay.
  • Have, throughout their stay, valid and comprehensive medical and accident insurance that covers hospitalization and repatriation expenses in the event of illness or death.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Pay the established visa application fee (EUR 150)
  • Not be traveling with dependent family members.
  • Not have previously participated in the Program.
  • Meet all other legal requirements necessary for entry into the country.

Spots are limited, and 200 visas will be issued.

It is important to note that you can only apply for this visa at the Austrian Embassy in Buenos Aires; in other words, those who are abroad will have to return to Argentina to process it.

HOW TO APPLY

1 – Schedule an appointment at https://appointment.bmeia.gv.at/?Office=buenos-aires

Once you access the website, select the “Working Holiday Program” option, where you can choose a date and time. For now, appointments are only available for Friday mornings.

Once you request the appointment, you’ll receive an email at the address you provided when making the request. The email will contain your appointment confirmation, which you must bring with you on the day of your appointment at the embassy.

It’s important that if you request an appointment, you keep it. If for any reason you won’t be able to attend on the day of your appointment, you should cancel it as soon as possible so someone else can use it.

2 – Complete the forms

You must complete the application form and sign it so it is ready to submit at the Embassy. You may fill out the application by hand.

Additional Information Form

On the day of your appointment, you will be given another “additional information” form that you will need to fill out on the spot. This form consists of two important parts:

  • You will be asked to list all the documents you are submitting.
  • You will need to write a letter explaining why you want to apply for this visa and visit Austria.

3 – Submit personal documents

On the day of your appointment at the embassy, you must present:

    • An Argentine passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your return date from Austria to Argentina. The passport must have at least 2 blank pages.
    • Photocopy of the passport: of the first page with personal information and of all pages containing obtained visas.
    • Photocopy of your ID card: both sides.

4 – Photograph

2 recent photos in ICAO format, 35mm wide by 45mm high. The photos must not be more than 6 months old.

5 – Proof of financial solvency

Proof of financial solvency must be provided for the first month in Austria, which, according to the Embassy, must be at least EUR 1,500 (USD 1,646).

Proof of funds can be provided by submitting a bank statement for the last 6 months or a savings account book.

6 – Accommodation reservation for at least 2 weeks from your arrival date in Austria.

7 – Health insurance must provide a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000 and must include medical repatriation and repatriation of remains.

8 – Airline tickets: submit round-trip tickets to your home country, or proof of sufficient funds to purchase them.

9 – Criminal record certificate
