To apply for the New Zealand Working Holiday Visa, mark your calendar for September 16, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. (Argentina Time)
New Zealand grants a visa to people between the ages of 18 and 35. Quotas are set annually, with a maximum of 1,000 visas available—and that’s it!!!
We recommend that you also look into other visas as a backup option, since this visa is very difficult to obtain due to the limited number of spots available
With Italian citizenship, there is no age limit, but you must be 30 or younger!
The good thing about this visa is that it doesn’t require you to know English or have a college degree.

How long is the visa valid for, and when does it take effect?
The visa is granted for a period of 1 year, starting from the day it is approved (you’ll receive an email with the date), which is usually between 2 and 4 weeks after the application date, approximately.
From the day it is approved, you have 1 year to enter New Zealand, and from the day you enter the country, you have 1 year to stay.
This visa allows you to work for 12 months and study for up to a maximum of 6 months.
REQUIREMENTS
- You must have an Argentine passport valid for at least 15 months after you arrive in New Zealand. This is important because if your passport expires before then, you won’t be able to apply online, as the system won’t let you proceed. To apply, you need to know your passport number and its expiration date.
- You must be at least 18 and no more than 35 years old (provided that at the time of applying for the visa, you are at least 18 or under 36 years old)
- Meet the health (X-ray) and good conduct requirements. X-rays are not required at the time of application
- Have a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase one (I recommend buying a round-trip ticket to avoid problems). This is not required at the time of application
- Have a minimum of NZD 4,200 in available funds to cover your living expenses while you are there. This can be demonstrated through cash, bank statements, credit card statements, etc. This is required upon entry into New Zealand, NOT at the time of application. Additionally, if you are traveling with only a one-way ticket, you must have the funds to purchase your departure ticket from New Zealand, in addition to the NZD 4,200.
- You must not have previously obtained a Working Holiday visa for New Zealand, regardless of whether you have dual citizenship. You can only obtain one visa, regardless of the number of passports you hold.
- Have health insurance upon entry into New Zealand (it is mandatory)
- You may not bring dependent children or a spouse
Important: The visa fee is NZD 280 and can only be paid with a Visa or Mastercard credit card.
As a tip, we recommend not waiting until the day of application to create your username on the New Zealand Immigration website; you can do this at any time.
On the day registration opens, log in with your existing username and start filling out the various forms; have your passport and a Visa or Mastercard credit card handy. If you reach the final step—payment—and it goes through successfully, the visa is 99% yours.
Next, you’ll need to submit your X-rays. You’ll receive an email informing you of the deadline for submitting the report. From the time you receive the email, you have 15 days for the X-rays to reach the New Zealand Immigration Office, so make your appointment in advance!
You cannot have the X-ray exam done at just any clinic; it must be an AUTHORIZED CLINIC. More information is available on the embassy’s website.
Many clinics are using a new system where they send the exam results online to New Zealand (eMedical).
On the day of your appointment, you must bring:
-Passport
-A photocopy of your passport
-2 passport-sized photos (4×4 cm)
-X-ray form
Once Immigration receives the report, you’ll get an email confirming that your visa has been approved, provided everything goes smoothly!!!
