Colombia was named the leading destination in South America by the World Travel Awards (WTA), considered the "Oscars of the travel industry"
It has received this recognition for the first time since the World Travel Awards were established in 1993.
Among the award-winning cities was Bogotá in the category of South America’s Leading Meetings & Conferences Destination 2019; Cali received the award for South America’s Leading Cultural Destination 2019; and Cartagena was named South America’s Leading Honeymoon Destination 2019.
The Ágora Convention Center in Bogotá won the award for Leading Convention Center in South America 2019, and Avianca won in the category of Leading Airline Brand in South America 2019.
